The “Economic and Innovation Partnership NRW-Africa” project, known as WIN NRW.Africa, provides the opportunity for participants to conduct multiple onsite visits to explore start-ups and accelerators in the NRW region. African start-ups have the chance to engage in an 8-week exchange and networking initiative in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany.

  • Unlock entry to vibrant and evolving markets, establishing or extending business connections and collaborations.
  • Participate in workshops, technical dialogues, and excursions designed to provide valuable insights into the economic policy framework in NRW.
  • This reciprocal exchange of innovative ideas aims to cultivate networking prospects for entrepreneurs with significant potential, presenting an exciting opportunity for start-ups from both Africa and NRW.

In Germany, AHKs (Auslandshandelskammern or German Chambers of Commerce Abroad) are intricately connected with the network of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs). Together, IHKs and AHKs play a crucial role in assisting German companies in establishing and expanding their business connections globally.

The umbrella organization overseeing the IHKs is the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), which takes on the coordination and support of the AHK network. The close collaboration with German trade associations ensures that AHKs maintain a strong connection to companies and markets, facilitating effective support for businesses.

By resolution of the German Bundestag, the AHKs receive proportional support from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, underlining their role in promoting economic activities and international trade.

The AHKs, or Auslandshandelskammern (German Chambers of Commerce Abroad), form a crucial part of Germany’s global trade network. These chambers are closely associated with the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs), working collaboratively to support German companies in their endeavors to establish and expand international business relations. The IHKs and AHKs play a pivotal role in providing a range of services and assistance to businesses looking to navigate and thrive in foreign markets.

Coordinated and supported by the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the AHK network operates under the umbrella of this overarching organization. This coordination ensures streamlined efforts and effective assistance for German enterprises engaging in global trade. The AHKs operate as vital intermediaries, connecting businesses with the resources and information needed to navigate the complexities of international markets.

The AHKs maintain close ties with German trade associations, ensuring that they stay well-connected to the evolving needs of companies and market trends. This collaboration enhances the chambers’ ability to provide tailored support, industry-specific insights, and targeted assistance to German businesses venturing abroad.

Supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, the AHKs receive pro rata financial backing based on a resolution of the German Bundestag. This support underscores the government’s recognition of the crucial role played by AHKs in fostering international trade and economic activities. The financial backing enables the AHKs to carry out their mission effectively, promoting economic growth and facilitating the global success of German businesses. In summary, the AHKs serve as invaluable resources, acting as strategic partners for German companies seeking to navigate and prosper in the complex landscape of international trade.
