Apply Now: Indian Government’s (ICCR) African Scholarships

The Indian Government’s (ICCR) African Scholarships for the academic year 2024/2025 were introduced during the inaugural plenary of the India – Africa Forum Summit in April 2008 in New Delhi. The initiative aims to expand academic opportunities for students from African countries in India by increasing the number of scholarships available for pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and higher courses.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants for doctoral/postdoctoral courses are required to provide a synopsis of their proposed research area.

Those interested in studying performing arts are encouraged to submit video/audio recordings of their performances.

Proficiency in English is mandatory.

Applications sent directly to ICCR by students or through local Embassies/High Commissions in New Delhi will not be considered.

Priority is given to students who have not previously studied in India.

Applications for courses in MBBS/MD or Dentistry/Nursing will not be accepted.

It’s important to note that Indian universities/educational institutions have their own eligibility criteria, and acceptance by the university does not guarantee a scholarship. Scholarships are awarded only upon confirmation of admission by ICCR.

Scholarship Details:

The scholarship covers various expenses, including living allowances, house rent allowance, contingent grants, tuition fees, and medical benefits.

The amount provided varies depending on the level of study and location.

Scholars are expected to seek medical treatment only at designated medical centers attached to universities or institutes or at the nearest government hospital.

Duration and Eligible Countries:

The duration of the scholarship corresponds to the period of study.

The scholarship is open to students from 54 African countries.

Application Process:

Applicants are advised to thoroughly read the instructions and financial terms before filling out the application form.

Detailed guidelines for applying for ICCR scholarships online are available on the A2A Portal

All applications must be submitted through the website, and no hard copies are required at the Mission.
