2025 SAICA’s Thuthuka Bursary Fund for Aspiring Chartered Accountants (South Africa)

SAICA’s Thuthuka Bursary Fund

The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) Thuthuka Bursary Fund is a comprehensive financial assistance program aimed at addressing the shortage of chartered accountants (CAs) in South Africa, particularly from historically disadvantaged backgrounds. Established by SAICA, the Thuthuka Bursary Fund seeks to promote transformation and diversity within the accounting profession by providing support to talented and deserving students who aspire to pursue careers as chartered accountants.

The Thuthuka Bursary Fund offers bursaries to students at various stages of their academic journey, including high school learners, undergraduate students, and postgraduate students. Bursaries cover tuition fees, textbooks, accommodation, and other related expenses, enabling recipients to focus on their studies and pursue their educational goals without financial barriers.

One of the distinctive features of the Thuthuka Bursary Fund is its holistic approach to supporting students throughout their academic and professional development. In addition to financial assistance, bursary recipients receive access to mentorship, academic support, career guidance, and practical training opportunities, helping them to excel academically and prepare for successful careers as chartered accountants.

The Thuthuka Bursary Fund places a strong emphasis on promoting academic excellence, leadership, and ethical conduct among its recipients. Bursary recipients are expected to maintain high academic standards, demonstrate leadership potential, and uphold the values of integrity, professionalism, and accountability in their studies and future careers.

The Thuthuka Bursary Fund is committed to promoting access and inclusivity within the accounting profession by actively recruiting students from diverse backgrounds, including black South Africans, women, and individuals from disadvantaged communities. By providing opportunities for underrepresented groups to pursue careers as chartered accountants, the fund contributes to greater diversity, representation, and equity within the accounting profession.
