The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI) is delighted to invite applications for the Italian Government MAECI Scholarship for the academic year 2024-25. This program is designed to support foreign students and Italian citizens residing abroad, who are interested in pursuing Master’s and PhD degree programs at public universities across Italy.

This initiative is part of Italy’s commitment to fostering international education and promoting Italian language and culture globally.

What Does the MAECI Scholarship Offer?

The MAECI Scholarship provides substantial financial support designed to cover the full spectrum of educational expenses for the duration of 9 months. The support includes:

  • Tuition Fee Waiver: Full exemption from the payment of enrollment and tuition fees.
  • Health Insurance: Comprehensive medical and accident insurance covered by MAECI.
  • Living Allowance: A total of €9,000 disbursed in three installments over the academic year to help cover living expenses.

The specific installment breakdown is as follows:

  • First installment: €4,500
  • Second installment: €2,500
  • Third and final installment: €2,000

Program Structures Supported

Scholarships are available for four different academic pursuits:

  • Master’s Degree Programs
  • Higher Education Courses in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM)
  • PhD Programs
  • Research under academic supervision

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for this prestigious scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • For Master’s Programs: Applicants should have completed a bachelor’s degree and be 28 years old or younger at the time of application.
  • For PhD Programs: Applicants must not be over 30 years old at the time of application.
  • Language Proficiency: Proof of English language proficiency through IELTS or equivalent certification is required.

Application Process

Prospective scholars must apply online via the Study in Italy website. It is important to note that the scholarship application is separate from university admissions. Applicants do not need to have secured admission at an Italian university before applying for the MAEC Scholarship.
