EARTH University is honored to partner with The Mastercard Foundation to provide the Mastercard Earth University Scholarship to young leaders from disadvantaged communities around the globe.Through the partnership, which forms part of The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, The Foundation will provide 120 scholarships to EARTH students.
Approximately one-third of the scholars will come from Sub-Saharan Africa and the rest from Latin America and the Caribbean. This scholarship program offers young people the opportunity to be part of EARTH’s extraordinary learning environment. The scholars will become leaders who will make significant contributions to agricultural and economic initiatives in their countries.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars will be engaged in a culture of philanthropy and volunteerism, encouraging them to transition from being beneficiaries to benefactors and active contributors in their communities. The program also integrates complementary supports such as mentoring, career counseling, service learning opportunities and internships.
Earth University is known for its focus on teaching students how to use agriculture and natural resource management as tools for sustainable development. The university offers a unique undergraduate program in fields such as agricultural science, environmental science, and agribusiness management. The Mastercard Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship at Earth University is intended to foster leadership in young Africans, particularly those interested in addressing critical challenges like food security, climate change, and rural development.
The scholarship covers full tuition, accommodation, and other related costs such as travel expenses and study materials, ensuring that recipients can focus entirely on their studies and leadership development. Requirements For The Mastercard Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship at Earth University
Applicants must:
- Be a resident and a graduating high school student of a country within Sub-Saharan Africa;
- Demonstrate financial need correspondent to that of the lowest two quintiles of your country;
- Have very strong academic results within your school system;
- Have a record of leadership and extracurricular involvement;
- Maintain a strong desire to return to Africa to assist and work towards enhanced regional socioeconomic development;
- Be graduating from a recognized secondary school, or have completed the necessary academic requirements; and
- Fulfill the necessary English requirements (dependent on country);
Application Documents
- A completed online application – all applicable sections must be filled out, including contact information, financial information, personal details and responses to essay questions.
- Financial documents – upload a scanned copy of financial documentation.
- Transcript – upload a scanned copy of your secondary school transcript and any other academic information.
- Two references – provide the names and contact details of two individuals who will serve as your referees.
Method of Application
- The first step to receiving a scholarship from this program is to apply to EARTH.
- Recipients of The Mastercard Foundation scholarships meet all of EARTH’s selection criteria.
- As part of the partnership agreement, we seek to award these scholarships to qualified candidates whose financial circumstances would otherwise prevent them from attending university.
- Approximately one-third of the scholars will come from Sub-Saharan Africa and the rest from Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Please note that thanks to the support of many foundations, governments, private companies, and individuals around the globe, EARTH is able to provide financial aid to all of its students, with approximately 60 percent of students receiving full scholarships.
